RPS Science & Research Representation at the 2025 Clinical Pharmacy Congress

 

At the 2025 Clinical Pharmacy Congress, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) had a strong and visible presence, with the dedicated RPS Theatre offering valuable insights into current priorities and ongoing workstreams.

The RPS Science & Research Team, alongside the Science & Research Committee, played a key role across multiple sessions during the two-day event. These sessions explored critical topics such as research funding, the integration of science into clinical pharmacy practice, and effective strategies for disseminating research findings.


Day 1 Highlights – Friday, 9 May

The Application of Science in Pharmacy Practice
This session demonstrated how pharmacists apply scientific principles and methodologies in everyday clinical settings, highlighting real-world examples of science driving better patient care.

Strategy & Policy Forum: 11:45 – 12:30
How to Secure Research Funding
Tailored for pharmacy professionals, this session unpacked the research journey—from idea to funding. It aimed to demystify the funding landscape and empower attendees to pursue research opportunities with greater confidence.

Day 2 Highlights – Saturday, 10 May

RPS Theatre: 13:15 – 14:00
Research Workshop: Top Tips for Writing Conference Abstracts, Posters, and Manuscripts
This practical workshop offered clear, actionable advice on how to effectively communicate research and service evaluations. Attendees learned how to craft compelling abstracts, design impactful posters, and write manuscripts that resonate with reviewers and editors.

Leadership & Professional Development Theatre: 14:15 – 15:00
Becoming Research Active: Accounts from Current Researchers
Dr. McKenzie shared her journey into research, offering a candid look at the challenges and triumphs along the way—from early setbacks to her current role as Chief Investigator.
