A Pharmacogenomic Competency Framework Resource for all Prescribers

Royal Pharmaceutical Society crestConsultation

We are asking for your views on a new resource to support pharmacogenomic prescribing for all prescribers.

The resource has been commissioned by the NHSE Network of Excellence in Pharmacogenomics and Medicines Optimisation.

The resource will support any prescriber to meet the established prescribing competencies within the RPS competency framework for all prescribers. It will do so by providing pharmacogenomic context, supporting with case-studies and signposting to resources related to the competency.

The resource may also include novel pharmacogenomic competencies or recommend changes to the main competency framework for all prescribers.

Who can take part?

We’re looking for diverse feedback including from:

  • Prescribers already providing pharmacogenomics within their practice
  • Prescribers who think they might use pharmacogenomics in the future
  • Colleagues representing an organisation that employs prescribers
  • Colleagues who use, or have familiarity with, our Competency Framework for all Prescribers.

This framework resource is being reviewed in collaboration with an expert group on behalf of all prescribers in the UK. Your input will ensure it is current, clear, relevant and fit for purpose for prescribers from all professional backgrounds.

How you can contribute

The survey will be open from Monday, 1 December 2025 until Friday, 9 January 2026, and should take anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes to complete.

The answers you provide will only be used for the purposes of this work.
Thank you in advance for your contribution.
