About the sessions
You may choose to attend as many or as few sessions as you wish, however we recommend attending one workshop for each topic area.
To ensure these are accessible to all, we're running both face-to-face and online sessions, with the face-to-face sessions taking place in three locations: North Wales, Mid and West Wales, and South Wales.
Sessions will focus on symptoms and conditions that commonly present in community pharmacy. They will be two hours long, and include a presentation, knowledge quiz, group work, case study discussions, and a Q&A with experts.
After completing the sessions, you will be able to:
- Diagnose and manage conditions treated under the PIPS service
- Recognise red flag symptoms and differential diagnosis associated with conditions under the PIPs service
- Know when to refer, who to refer to and how urgently to refer to other healthcare professional and/or services
- Treat common conditions and minor ailments as a prescriber.
How much do the sessions cost?
The programme is fully funded by HEIW, so all sessions are free.
Who developed the programme?
The programme has been designed by pharmacists within the RPS education and professional development team, who have a wealth of experience in developing flexible, high-quality, learner focussed learning experiences.
Content has been written by practising pharmacist independent prescribers, general practitioners, and specialist consultant doctors, and is based on real world cases and situations.
What resources will be available for each session?
You will receive a PDF of the slides after the event, containing the presentation slides in an electronic format. We may also suggest external links that will complement the session.
