Emily Kennedy 

Dr Emily Kennedy is Clinical Pharmacist for Climate Emergency and Sustainability within the Effective Prescribing and Therapeutics team of the Scottish Government. In this national role, she embeds integration of environmental sustainability into quality prescribing strategies, contributing to NHS Scotland’s net zero goals and the reduction of inhaler-related carbon emissions. She was shortlisted as a Sustainability Champion in Europe by Healthcare Without Harm in 2025.

Alongside this, Dr Kennedy serves as Lead Pharmacist for Respiratory and Sustainability with NHS Dumfries and Galloway, where she delivers advanced clinical services, supports green prescribing initiatives, and co-chairs the Dumfries and Galloway Pharmacy Practice Research Group. She is a credentialled Consultant Pharmacist (General Practice) and chairs Advanced Pharmacist Credentialling Committees for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Dr Kennedy has an extensive portfolio in education and professional development through her longstanding work with NHS Education for Scotland and authorship of widely used national learning resources. She is a published researcher in respiratory prescribing and sustainable healthcare, and a recognised leader in advancing clinical pharmacy practice, education, and environmental stewardship across Scotland.
