Ben Hannan is an experienced executive director in NHS Scotland, where he leads strategy, reform, transformation and performance across a £1.1B health and care system.
He has previously held senior executive roles as Chief Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy, and as Director of Newcastle General Practice Services, with leadership experience spanning hospital, community and primary care in both Scotland and England.
Ben was appointed by the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for Scotland to lead the Independent Review of Medicines Homecare in Scotland, which has shaped national policy and practice. He was awarded a Royal Pharmaceutical Society Fellowship in recognition of his contribution to pharmacy leadership and healthcare reform.
He is a dual graduate of the NHS Leadership Academy (Elizabeth Garrett Anderson and Nye Bevan programmes) and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership. At a UK level, he has served for five years on the RPS Hospital Expert Advisory Group and represents Devolved Nations on the NHS Benchmarking Steering Group. Recently in Scotland he has contributed to Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary advisory panels on NHS Reform, alongside wider roles supporting system transformation , culture and performance.
