Amina is a Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Primary Care in NHS Fife, responsible for the implementation and development of the pharmacotherapy service in line with the GMS contract. After graduating from Nottingham University in 2006, she moved to Scotland and completed a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Dundee Drug Discovery Unit, then began her career as a hospital pre-registration pharmacist in NHS Lothian, before relocating to the Isle of Man where she worked as a hospital pharmacist.

After returning to Scotland, Amina worked in community pharmacy and Spire Edinburgh Private Hospitals before joining the primary care team in NHS Lothian where she completed her Independent Prescribing Qualification with the University of Strathclyde. Amina then worked as an education and training lead in NHS Borders with clinical commitments in rheumatology before returning to primary care in NHS Fife, initially as a senior practice pharmacist and then in her current post.

Amina has chaired the Education and Training workstream of the SP3A Practice Pharmacy Subgroup since January 2023. She is passionate about the pharmacy educational reforms especially in relation to independent prescribing.

As a board member, Amina’s aim is to contribute to the future of pharmacy through advancing roles and supporting integration and collaboration across Scotland.
