Professional experience and particular interests
With over 30 years’ experience, Sue has a background in hospital pharmacy, having had early roles in clinical pharmacy, aseptics and education and training. She spent many years working as a clinical pharmacist, specialising in cancer and critical care, before her passion for service and quality improvement led into management and leadership roles.
Sue was a hospital chief pharmacist for eight years and is a former chair of a regional chief pharmacist network and national Association of Teaching Hospital Pharmacists. She has championed innovation, improvement, advanced practice, research and consultant roles in hospitals, and collaborative services and leadership across care settings.
Formerly an NHS regional chief pharmacist, Sue has provided professional leadership across a broad range of pharmacy practice areas, promoting progress and integration. Sue remains committed to continuously developing pharmacy services and people, currently overseeing the transformation of hospital pharmacy aseptic compounding services and workforce nationally and leading on Inclusive Pharmacy Practice initiatives in NHS pharmacy leadership, supporting increased diversity in senior pharmacy positions and greater equity of opportunity.
