Professional experience and particular interests
Matthew has had a unique and varied career, working across numerous different systems and holding roles both within the NHS and private sector. Mainly within secondary care, he has significant experience within the commissioning, high cost drugs and homecare specialities. Originally from Sunderland, he attended the University of Nottingham, living and working across the Midlands since University.

Currently, Deputy Director of Pharmacy at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire and until appointment to the English Pharmacy Board, the Deputy Chair for the RPS Hospital Expert Advisory Group, he is passionate about pharmacy and developing his own leadership skills. He recently completed the Nye Bevan Leadership Programme to support him in driving the profession forwards for our people and patients.

Workforce is their main priority, and a personal area of focus is the upskilling of all Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants to the limits of legislation, which will in turn give Pharmacists the capacity to focus on patient facing clinical interventions. Matthew is focussed on building the profile of Pharmacy to ensure the voice of the profession is heard, to improve the impact we can have for our patients.

Other Interests: Football, specifically Sunderland!
