Professional experience and particular interests
With a background in community pharmacy, Ankish has held various roles from store-based pharmacist, pharmacist store manager, regional manager, and clinical governance pharmacist. He has always had a passion for pharmacy services and has supported Nottinghamshire community pharmacies through is work on the Local Pharmaceutical Committee and Area Prescribing Committee.
Ankish was part of the second wave of NHS-funded clinical pharmacists in General Practice, joining a GP practice in Nottingham City whilst also working at NHS 111 as an integrated urgent care pharmacist.
He has represented primary care pharmacy both regionally and nationally through the ICS Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Board and as a committee member of the Primary Care Pharmacy Association and PCPA Leadership Group.
He is now the Chief Pharmacist and Head of PCN workforce for the Nottingham City GP Federation, supporting a multidisciplinary workforce of over 140 employees, involved in service development, service design and workforce development.
Over the years he has designed and delivered smoking cessation services, and enhanced access reviews, and introduced multiple new roles to general practice alongside novel approaches to workforce supervision.
