New Regulations for the Royal College of Pharmacy

Following a successful Special Resolution Vote in March 2025, where members voted in favour of proposed changes to our Royal Charter and becoming the Royal College of Pharmacy, another step in this journey is making some transitional changes to our Regulations.

Establishing new Regulations will take place in two phases. Firstly, we will publish draft interim transition Regulations – these are to enable elections to the new royal college structure to take place in early 2026 and to transfer the Pharmaceutical Press into a subsidiary company. We will ‘gazette’ these to the RPS membership in autumn 2025, that is, place them before members for 60 days to give opportunity for a final review and comments, which will then be considered by our governing body, Assembly, ahead of enacting them.

  • You can read our draft interim transition Regulations in full here.
  • All RPS members are invited to share their views

We will then be gazetting a full new set of Regulations for the future Royal College of Pharmacy in early 2026. These will follow the same ‘gazetting’ process, where they are placed before the membership for 60 days in early 2026, once the date on which the Royal College of Pharmacy will come in to being is agreed with the Charity Commission and the Privy Council. Feedback will then be considered by Assembly, ahead of enacting the new full Regulations ready for the Royal College to launch.
