The Society's Museum holds a photo archive of some 7,000 images reflecting the personalities, premises, the work of the Society and the broader history of British pharmacy.

Subject to the Museum Officer’s discretion and copyright law, the Museum can usually grant permission for the reproduction of images from the Museum’s collection.

The Museum does not charge a fee for reproducing an image for private study, academic research, personal use or other educational or non-commercial purpose.

For commercial use, a reproduction fee must be paid in advance.

Individuals or companies wishing to undertake on-site photography or filming should contact the Museum Officer.

Family History research service Family History research service

We welcome enquiries to use our pharmacy registers from family historians and others seeking to trace the careers of individuals or the history of pharmacy premises.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain was founded in 1841 and the society published The List of Members, Associates and Apprentices from 1841-1868.

From 1868-2010 it was compulsory for Chemists and Druggists and Pharmacists to register with the society and these registers are held by the RPS Library, along with The Register of Premises published from 1936-2010.

Access to the registers is free of charge but by appointment only. To book an appointment, contact [email protected]
