In a recent appearance on ITV This Morning, Thorrun Govind, RPS England Pharmacy Board member shed light on the invaluable role pharmacists play in providing healthcare support to patients who may be struggling to get a GP appointment.
During the interview, Govind emphasised that pharmacists have the expertise to treat a wide range of common conditions, including coughs, colds, and stomach upsets. She advised viewers on when it is appropriate to seek assistance from a pharmacy and when a GP visit may be necessary.
One of the key points Govind highlighted was the importance of choosing the right over-the-counter medication to alleviate cold symptoms and the importance of reading the information leaflet enclosed with medication.
Looking ahead, Govind discussed the upcoming introduction of England’s pharmacy first service early next year. This initiative aims to expand the range of services offered by pharmacists, providing patients with even more accessible healthcare options.
