As the Royal College of Pharmacy, we will:

Create greater recognition for pharmacy and the scope of its impact

We will do this by:

  • Capitalising on the recognition royal colleges enjoy with policymakers, the public, and professionals
  • Maximising the voice of pharmacy through influencing governments, stakeholders, and the public
  • Ensuring that a strong, independent professional voice is heard at all times
  • Working closely with other professional leadership bodies and pharmacy specialist interest groups to ensure that all of pharmacy is better understood and valued by the public and policymakers.

Collaboratively shape the future of pharmacy

We will do this by:

  • Shaping health policy by delivering authoritative advocacy and respected thought leadership
  • Creating an evidence base, standards, and curricula to underpin professional advancement
  • Providing opportunities for members to help us shape the future in policy, research, strategy.

Advance pharmacists to provide excellence in patient care.

We will do this by:

  • Encouraging, identifying and showcasing excellence in patient care
  • Supporting pharmacists to deliver the highest standards of practice and fostering continual improvement
  • Assuring post-registration standards of patient focussed practice through the credentialing of pharmacists
  • Driving the development of pharmacists as leaders, managers, educators, and researchers
  • Creating pathways to the delivery of advanced, complex services and career advancement.

Support workforce transformation

We will do this by:

  • Being the place to go for professional support, networking, inspiration, learning and development
  • Supporting members to lead transformation in pharmaceutical care to ensure system-wide impact.
  • Providing the post-registration credentialling architecture that transforms workforce assurance
  • Continuing to champion inclusion and diversity across pharmacy and call out where we see discrimination or unfairness.
  • Remaining focussed on the importance of improving the wellbeing of the pharmacy workforce, working in collaboration with others and in recognition of their unique contribution to this agenda.

Put patients at the forefront of our work

We will do this by:

  • Championing patient safety and pharmaceutical care
  • Focussing on education, credentialing and assurance to underpin patient safety
  • Supporting pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists to optimise outcomes and the safe and effective use of medicines.
  • Taking difficult decisions where this is the right thing for the long term and for patient care.
